Years 3 & 4
Close co-operation and communication between Year 2 and Year 3, ensures a smooth transition to Key Stage 2.
A broad and balanced curriculum builds on the foundations laid in Key Stage 1 and specialist subjects are introduced from Year 3 to further enhance the pupils’ learning experiences and help them on the road to becoming independent learners and thinkers.
Our extensive curriculum for Years 3 & 4 includes:
- PE & Games
A full range of sports are available to pupils including Netball, Soccer, Rugby, Hockey, Cross Country, Gymnastics, Dance, Volleyball, Swimming, Rounders, Cricket, Stoolball and Athletics. The Under 9 and Under 8 teams are selected from these classes and we have an extensive sports fixture list which includes matches against other schools, providing every pupil with the chance to represent Skippers.
In Years 3 & 4, the children continue to benefit from the use of portable Chromebooks to support their learning across the whole curriculum, enabling a more varied and stimulating approach and helping to develop their computer skills.
Outside the Classroom
Pupils in Years 3 & 4 continue to enjoy a broad range of learning opportunities outside of the classroom, with regular Woodland Explorers sessions, as well as trips to local areas of interest throughout the year to further enrich their learning, including visits to theatres, historic sites and museums.
