Years 1 & 2
Year 1 marks the transition from the Early Years Foundation Stage to Key Stage 1.
An engaging curriculum provides stimulating learning opportunities for all our pupils, enabling them to develop skills, knowledge and understanding in a range of key subjects, whilst providing opportunities for every child to develop their independence, self-confidence, self-discipline and self-esteem.
The needs and talents of each pupil are recognised, with personalised learning and support tailored to each individual.
Pupils in Years 1 & 2 benefit from the valued input of specialist teachers in the fields of ICT, Music, French, PE and Games.
From Year 1, pupils use portable Chromebooks to support their learning across the whole curriculum, enabling a more varied and stimulating approach and helping to develop their computer skills from a young age.
Outside the Classroom
Pupils in Years 1 & 2 enjoy a broad range of learning opportunities outside of the classroom. Regular Woodland Explorers sessions, allow the children to make the most of the acres of beautiful woodland and meadows here at Skippers, whilst trips and visits to local areas of interest further enrich their topic learning.
