Year 3 visit Newhaven Fort

Posted: 14th October 2015 | Category: Year 3

An account of the trip by Alice Clay and Sarah Davies.

'All of Year 3 went to Newhaven Fort on Friday 2nd October. First we went to the School Room then had a safety talk and a snack. In the talk we heard a real World War Two siren. Newhaven Fort is for learning all about World War Two. The man showed us a real life bomb….We went into a room which was dark and a man made noises out of a speaker; it taught us what it was like being in an Anderson Shelter during the war. It was quite scary so we played on the adventure playground afterwards. Then we had our lunch. After lunch we went to explore. The man chose Ettienne to dress up and he put lots of clothes on from World War Two. He also showed us lots of objects which were used during the War. We watched a film about Newhaven Fort and then went down lots of steps and through a very thin tunnel exploring. It was a very fun day and we learnt a lot.'
