Year 1 Learn About Australia
Posted: 2nd October 2014 | Category: Year 1
Year 1 pupils have been busy continuing their learning about Australia. We have particularly been focusing on animals which are native to Australia. In Science, we have been learning how 'humans' are also a type of animal. Consequently our Art lessons have been based on looking in mirrors and creating a variety of portraits. Our self portraits are currently on display outside the Year One classroom. Please visit the Year One cloakroom to view our spaghetti portraits!
Unfortunately, we cannot take the children to Australia to visit the animals there, so on the 23 September, we took Reception and Year 1 to see some animals at Raystede, a local animal centre which offers educational visits. The children enjoyed: brushing the ponies, sweeping the barn, making hay bags, visiting the cattery, feeding the ducks and meeting some of the dogs. Watch out for the photos of our fun filled morning!
At home: Purple Mash logins have now been sent home. The children may enjoy some of the Paint activities.
Next Week: Following our recent decorating of boomerangs with Aboriginal patterns, next week we will be making didgeridoos!
