Well done Reception for settling in so beautifully

Posted: 17th September 2014

The Reception Class has had a super start to their first year of "big school" and have all settled in beautifully.  Well done, Reception!

We have spent time getting to know the classroom and our lovely Early Years outdoor area, learning to use the exciting resources within them.

In our Woodland Explorers sessions we have begun to explore the woods and meadows in our stunning grounds - the willow arch and story circle elicited quite a few "Wows"!  This week we have started to learn to hear, say, read and write our letter sounds and we have taken home our first reading and library books.  In Mathematics we have been thinking about sorting items into groups based on colour, size or shape.  We have also been stars of the swimming pool and Mr Pollard is very pleased we are so confident in the water.  The teachers have been very impressed with the Reception children at lunch time as most days our plates have been eaten clean!  We really enjoy Jewel Assembly on a Friday and we are learning to remember which House we are in so we can cheer for our House as the Jewels (awarded for kindness, excellent work and so on) are counted.  A fantastic start for a fantastic class - Miss Hemsley and Jackie are very proud of you all!
