Ready Steady Go!

Posted: 16th June 2015 | Category: Kindergarten

During the month of June, Kindergarten have been mainly getting wet and running races!

Now that the sunshine has arrived (fingers crossed!) it’s time to water seeds, make sand pies and casseroles, wash the play house, and generally get wet. As we watch the children busily going about their business, we see echoes of family life in every activity. Polishing the trikes, pushing prams, washing the cars, scrubbing the walls and sweeping up sand, every face is intent and defies interruption. We see the usual wonderful role play, conversation, negotiation, disagreement and warm accord. All of human life is in our playground!

Sports day is a big event at Skippers, and our small people rose to the occasion on Saturday. We had put in a lot of practice because although running is one of our favourite things, running in a straight line is not!  The hat race was a limited success in practice; it was generally agreed that Sue and I had collected ‘very silly hats’! We thought that we had provided a stylish selection of headgear but obviously we must try harder next time! We were very proud of every child, Mum and Dad who took part. Thank you so much to all our lovely parents who gave the children such enormous support, as ever!

Now we are looking forward to Fun Day, The Teddy Bears Picnic and more summery fun!

Best wishes,

Loraine Pincott and Sue Reis
