A day in the life…

For this week’s blog post we thought it would be nice to share the range of activities that the children in Kindergarten take part in on a daily basis. Here are the things we did on Wednesday.
At the start of the day, we had Music with our Music Teacher, Mrs Holleyman.
After Music, we enjoyed dressing up.
Our phonic sound of the day was J. All of the children had to think of as many things as they could that began with the letter J. Jelly was something that came from the children, so we all sat round the table, looked at the unwrapped packet of jelly and took it in turns to smell and touch the jelly (with spotlessly clean hands!). Then we discussed whether we should eat jelly as it comes in the packet or, if not, what we needed to do to make it like the jelly we all know and love. The children decided that we needed to add water, and then we discussed whether it would be hot or cold water that we should use. The children all helped to mix the jelly and pour it into moulds to put in the fridge. We ate the jelly at snack time and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all!!
Our topic this half of term is summer and all that this entails - the beach, packing suitcases for holidays, talking about how we should look after ourselves in hot weather, the lovely food we eat in summertime, etc. Sue talked to the children about changing our display board to make it a beach scene and we discussed the children’s different ideas. The children wanted to put fish in the water so we decided to make some fish with our hands. The children enjoyed doing handprints which will be turned into fish for our display.
Finally, the day ended with the girls having a Ballet lesson taught by our Ballet Teacher, Mrs Gunn. The girls practised for a show for their Mummies and Daddies which will take place at the end of term.
What a busy day we had!
