Years 7 & 8’s Red Carpet Film Premiere

The Year 7 and 8 pupils showcased the result of their hard work to families and friends when they premiered their film, ‘War Children’ at a  red carpet/black tie event on Tuesday evening.

The Year 8 pupils wrote, directed, filmed, produced and edited the film about World War II evacuees, which features Year 7 pupils as the cast.  Filming took place around Skippers Hill and local areas including the Bluebell Railway and Bewl Water.

The evening began with a 'champagne' reception where cast, crew and families gathered and photographs were taken. The children had all written stories about their war characters, which were displayed along with memorabilia and stills from the film.

At 8pm, guests took to their seats in the Hall and the crew and cast of 'War Children' entered on the red carpet to standing applause.

The premier went well, despite a tiny technical glitch at the beginning, and the film was very well received. There were some exciting moments as well as some beautifully nostalgic singing from all of the Year 7s and 8s.

The evening continued with an Oscar ceremony which was compered by Mr. Lewis while Mrs. Picken gave out the awards.

Winners of the awards were:

Best Film Crew -    Guy Beagley, Georgina Christmas. Hector Hadow, James Plaskett

Best Actress - Gabbi Mack

Best Actor  -  Kyle Mathieson

Best Supporting Actress  - Bibi Convert

Best Supporting Actor   -   Sam Collins

Outstanding Contribution   -   Jemima Beagley

Miss  Alexander and Mrs. Pearson are incredibly proud of all the children involved.  The project involved working in awful conditions at times with the wind and rain and falling in Bewl Water! They hope that the children  will be able to take away some fond memories of making the film.
