Year 6 host in French at ‘Café Mardi Gras’

Posted: 6th March 2014 | Category: Year 6

Year 6 pupils once again excelled, hosting our much celebrated French café at Skippers’ recent Open Day. This year, at Freddie’s suggestion, we named it Café Mardi Gras and our waiters and waitresses practised their phrases to perfection and served food and drinks without a spill.

This year, thanks to Adam’s Mum, we had a crêperie for the first time which proved extremely popular and sold out completely. A superb cheese board and a wide selection of cakes made the menu tempting and we were busy throughout the morning.

Customers were very complimentary about the pupils’ French and their confidence. Monty and Alfie were voted ‘most efficient in the workplace’ while Ellen managed to cope bravely with a bilingual client. Ben won a small prize for effort with his menu but all pupils seemed to enjoy the preparations and should be proud of their accomplishments.

Many thanks must go to all who contributed to the café’s success. Year 6 pupils were rewarded with some very generous tips which they have decided to spend on games for their classroom.
