Year 3 meet the animals at Plumpton

Posted: 20th May 2015 | Category: Year 3

On Monday 18th May, Years 3 and 4 braved the rain and set off for Plumpton College.
We had a visit around the farm in the morning where we learnt about cows and pigs. We saw many calves and piglets. We were able to go into the milking parlour and were taught about different milk products.
“I thought it was really fun. I really enjoyed it. I liked the cow sucking my hand' Lucy H, Year 4.
After lunch the rain cleared and we went stream dipping. We were able to learn more about the Year 4 topic 'Habitats' and the work we had previously carried out in the classroom was put into practice. We were all amazed by how many living things we found in such a small habitat, and used a key to identify the organisms found.
“ We were in groups and each had a large net. We put the net in the stream and with our foot disturbed the ground below us; then we looked in our net to see what we had found. I liked the bit where we looked at which bugs were which on the sheet.”   Suzie Dixon, Year 3.
A thoroughly enjoyable and educational day had by all!
