Welcome to Katharine Randolph Science KS3

What attracted you to the role at Skippers?

I am trained to teach the 11-18 age range and I have always thoroughly enjoyed teaching Years 7 and 8. In a previous role I had experience of a primary school setting having responsibility for Primary Liaison; I have also been a volunteer parent helper at my local primary school, both roles I enjoyed immensely. Having spent many happy years working in the private sector environment, I was attracted to working at Skippers Hill because it offered the opportunity to combine all these factors with my passion for science teaching.

What skills and experience can you bring to Skippers?

I have over 15 years teaching experience in a variety of private and state secondary schools and have a flexible and adaptable approach to teaching across the whole ability range. I am familiar with the current Science National Curriculum for KS3 through my previous teaching of Years 7 and 8 and I am proficient in following syllabi and preparing students for public examinations.

Why did you decide to become a teacher?

I enjoy my subject specialism and come from a long line of teachers, so I think it must be in my blood! I believe in high quality education and have a desire to share my knowledge with future generations. I also wanted a career that was going to offer me the potential challenge of acquiring new skills and knowledge.

What’s the best thing about being a teacher?

Being with young people and helping to shape their lives. Inspiring them to succeed on to the next step of their educational journey, and seeing those “light-bulb” moments when the mystery of something difficult clicks.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I enjoy spending time with my family and supporting my own children with their various endeavours. I am a classical ballet enthusiast both on the big screen and at live venues, and am a keen follower of period dramas. Additionally I enjoy making my own cards, cooking and Zumba.
