Teddy Bear’s Picnic

Kindergarten newsletter: 30th June 2015

The end of the academic year is always a bittersweet time for teachers, as we prepare to say ‘Goodbye’ to children and parents who are moving onwards. At the same time we have so much to celebrate and be thankful for!

Kindergarten and Reception have been enjoying some special times and celebrations this week, beginning with the Early Years Teddy Bear’s Picnic on Wednesday. Reception and Kindergarten children and parents were joined by Funtrain and Fun Friday children and parents. We also welcomed all our September Starters to join in the fun. The sun shone brightly, our wonderful seniors organised a Teddy Bear hunt and ball games, and we all enjoyed our picnic lunches! Thank you to all those who came and supported us!

Our second event of the week was a fundraising morning. Kindergarten have been learning about charity and caring for others. After much discussion and research, the children chose to support ‘Save the Children’, and on Thursday morning, Kindergarten opened their ‘Beach Café’ for the first time. The outside area was transformed into a colourful café, with summer tunes playing and small shopkeepers eager to fill the till with money! We were so proud of all Skippers pupils (and staff!) who came along to buy ice lollies, cookies and cold drinks. Our café was very busy and our Kindergarten children were fantastic shopkeepers!

We raised well over £`100, and money is still coming in. Some senior children contributed large sums from their own savings. Thank you all for your amazing generosity and your support!

Have a wonderful summer everyone!

Loraine Pincott, Sue Reis and Jackie Newman
