Success for the U13 Girls’ Hockey

Posted: 31st January 2014 | Category: Sports

On Wednesday 29 January, the under 13 girls set off in appalling weather conditions to Rosehill for their first match of the term (without either of our usual goalkeepers!).

The A team played first.  It was a well-matched game with some fast end-to-end play.  Poppy scored the first goal with a well-struck hit from an accurate hit out by Jessy at a penalty corner.  Rosehill equalised very quickly.  The game continued with our girls playing with confidence and determination and everyone sharing good levels of stamina.  Lucinda scored two more goals and another from Jessy brought the final score to a 4-3 win to us.  Well done everyone who contributed to this fine victory and thanks to Florence for stepping in as the goalkeeper.

The rain was relentless as the B team went on to play.  Again the team played extremely well, showing solid skills and great team-work.  We had several close chances of scoring, but unfortunately could not quite find the back of the net, leaving the final score at 0-0.  Well played everyone and thanks to Jessy for volunteering to play in goal.
