Spring Term Netball Update

Posted: 17th January 2014 | Category: Sports

The Skippers Hill Netball season, which started last September when the days were long and the sun still felt warm, now finds itself in full swing for the spring term 2014!

So far, the match results for all teams from the U10’s through to the U13’s have been superb with hardly a loss on the score cards! The girls are all full of enthusiasm for every match and lesson and voluntarily give up their lunch breaks on Thursdays and Fridays to attend the Netball Club on offer.

In preparation for the huge and exciting IAPS tournament later this term and the Jersey Sports Tour, an enthusiastic and brave team of mothers is taking on the 1st team in a week or so as part of Netball Club to give them a good run around and, of course, we will post the results accordingly!

So far this term the U11’s, which is topped up with U10’s, played a full St. Bedes U11 team in a very exciting battle where, having kept a narrow lead for most of the match with Bede’s biting at our tails, we secured a strong 12-7 win in the final quarter.

This week our U13’s and a mixed U12/U11 team popped down the road to play against the Mayfield Girls U13 A and B teams and while the ominous rain clouds graciously held back the drizzle for forty minutes, our team tactics, strong passing and hawk-eye shooting prevailed with end results of a resounding 18-5 for the U13’s and 13-8  to the U12/11’s . Well done to everyone and let’s keep punching above our weight!
Team of the week!

Every week Skippers celebrates the achievements of our sporting teams and we decide who will be the ‘Team of the Week’!  Displays of sportsmanship, team spirit or outstanding play could earn them this title and this week it goes to a very deserving U13 Netball Team. The girls displayed an impressive sense of team work and communication along with a superb understanding of how to use the court space resulting with a solid 18-5 win over Mayfield Girls. Poppy P stood out for her ever-improving standard of play, secure catching, throwing and quick judgement on her feeds into the shooting circle. Congratulations U13’s!
