Skippers sponsor Dennis through secondary school

Posted: 2nd March 2016 | Category: Reception, Year 1, Year 2

Last Tuesday, the school attended an assembly to hear an update on the Kenyan charity previously supported by Skippers.
Lesley Dann, the Founder of the charity Harambee For Kenya came in to tell the staff and children all the progress made since the previous assembly last year.
A new safehouse has been completed in Meru with more boys saved from living on the streets, given food and a bed and supported to go back to school.  The original safehouse in Kisii is still working very well and with over 80 boys in total in both houses, the charity continues to help those who needed them most.
Lesley also shared the exciting news about Skippers most generous support to sponsor Dennis Kirimi who stays in the house in Meru (Hope Centre).  The money kindly donated at the Christmas concert is to be used to sponsor Dennis to attend secondary school for a year.  Lesley said Dennis is a bright boy and will do well at school and wants to become either a doctor or an engineer.
As Jackie Parker is a Director on the Kenyan charity, the school will be able to receive updates from Kenya about Dennis and how he is progressing at school and the children will be able to write letters to Kenya and receive them as well as photos, school reports etc.
On behalf of the charity, we would like to thank all children and their families for their continued support.  It is due to the generosity of our supporters that the charity is able to continue supporting these young boys to keep them safe, to have a home and family and to be able to build a future for themselves with our support and through accessing education.

Please do not hesitate to ask Jackie Parker if you would like to find out more about the charity.
