Skippers’ Senior Choir took part in Young Voices recently at The O2 in London.

Posted: 22nd February 2017 | Category: Drama, Years 5 to 8

Young Voices come of Age.

Yes!  Young Voices have just turned 21

As half of the choir members have already been to the O2 on more than one occasion, you would think they might see themselves as seasoned performers by now.  But, no!  The excitement was still there.  Armed with mountains of food to put intrepid explorers to shame, our 24-person strong choir boarded the coach on 7th February determined to have a memorable day.

Despite the disappointment of being denied a trip to Starbucks, the choir’s spirits were soon revived!  Even having to walk up several flights of stairs did not daunt them.  We found ourselves in a near empty auditorium where we were able to position our banner in a prominent position at the front of the seating.  Thank you to Miss Alexander and her Art Club for organising this.

The rehearsal was a good three hours in length as we had a large amount of music to sing.  It is always fantastic how a conductor can bring such unity and order from 7,000+ excited school children.  The band played, the soloists performed, the Beat Boxers amazed and Urban Strides wowed.  And our children had one of the best evenings of their lives!
