Skippers pupils give great performances at Eastbourne Festival

On Thursday 23rd February, Year 6 took part in a mime class and a choral speaking class at the Eastbourne Festival.

Skipper’s Hill’s mime was called 'The Living Library'.  The pupils gave a great performance which was very well received by the judge and audience.

In the Choral Speaking section, pupils performed an extract from 'the Iron Woman' by Ted Hughes and a poem called 'Fantasy in a Forest' by LB Drake. Both were excellent performances, earning the performers 88 marks and a Certificate of Distinction. The judge described the performances as ‘very focused’ and ‘full of meaning and passion’.

The Senior Choir also put on a great performance at the Eastbourne Festival this year and their efforts were rewarded when they won the cup. The Seniors opened up with a moving version of “Lovely Moon” – half of this song was sung in German and the harmonies were exquisite! Thereafter followed Marianina” was a bouncy folk song in two parts. The victors are pictured here with Dorothy Bridger who runs the choir.

The Intermediate Choir also performed well and gained a Distinction in the class that they won with a moving rendition of “Kum Ba Yah” and a dashing performance of “Soldier, Soldier” with slick actions to match the snappy singing!

Year 6 will be taking to the stage again with both of their performances at the Performing Arts Evening at Skippers Hill on the 27th March.
