Skippers Hill U11 Netball Victory in Holmewood House Tournament!

The Skippers Hill U11 Netball Team, along with an impressive entourage of parental support, devoted their Saturday afternoon this week to a fun and utterly exciting tournament held at Holmewood House School. We were entered into the B team section against four big prep schools including Dulwich Prep, Marlborough House, Holmewood House and Rose Hill.

With no real idea of what we were up against, we warmed up with determination and hopeful confidence. To our delight, our first match against Marlborough House saw us snatch an easy and convincing win, accompanied by cheers and whoops from our supporters as our nine goals swished through the hoop. With morale high, we sailed through the next two matches leaving us with one final battle against a strong Dulwich Prep team who had also sailed through up to this point. A huge well done to Sarah Shepherd, borrowed from the U10’s to make up numbers, and who had slotted in with perfect ease into two of the matches so far!

Now the pressure was on, and our major obstacle was to keep calm and make each pass count. Witnesses can confirm, spectacular interceptions from Ellie, Gabby and Laura, beautiful fully stretched marking from Flo, slick center passing patterns instigated by Lizzie ‘whistle, boom, boom, boom goal’ and impressive shooting circle teamwork by Imogen and Jessie! All of this led to a neck and neck fight for victory and as the final claxon of the tournament sounded we were a glorious 6-4 in the lead! Skippers Hill were the tournament winners!

Three cheers for teamwork!
