Skippers Hill is delighted to announce that it has recently agreed to sponsor Mayfield Cricket Club. The funding provided will be used to purchase the club’s cricket nets.

The school highly regards cricket and is keen to promote the sport and raise its profile within the school and its community. Tim Lewis is an ardent cricket fan and is excited about the opportunity to support a local cricket facility for all members of the community.

“We are thrilled to support the construction of the cricket nets at the club.  This will inevitably benefit the local community and, since many of my pupils are club members, they will benefit too!  Skippers has always had a natural affinity with Cricket.  The great English polymath, C.B.Fry, spent his childhood at Skippers before it became a school.  He went on to captain Sussex from 1904 – 1908.  The high point of his cricketing career was to play 26 test matches and in 1912 he was made England’s Captain.  Cricket is certainly part of the fabric of the school and one recent alumna, Laura Marsh, is making her mark in the Women’s England side right now.”

Tim describes Mayfield Cricket Club’s facilities as “First Class” and has enjoyed meeting many of the school’s current parents at the Club while their children are being trained by well-qualified coaches.

Andrew Watson, Colts Manager at Mayfield Cricket Club, is excited about the sponsorship.

“We are delighted with the support from Skippers Hill School which will enable us to continue our good work in the community and further develop the facilities at the club. We would like to thank Skippers Hill for their support.  New members are always welcome. ”
