Sampling Languages at the ‘Language Show Live’ Exhibition

Posted: 7th December 2012

Mrs. Foden and Mrs. Stewart recently spent a day exploring bookstalls, IT exhibitions and language resources at the ‘Language Show Live' exhibition at Olympia. They enjoyed the opportunity to take part in some of the language taster sessions available.

During their Chinese language taster session, they learned that one word can have five different meanings depending on the tone in which it is said.  It was interesting to try to replicate the different tones, which was not as easy as it sounds.

They also took the opportunity to try to learn a different type of language: British sign language.  It was a good choice and certainly a much quieter course.

Mrs. Foden and Mrs. Stewart spent the whole day at the event.  There were so many resources to browse through and collect.  They have come back to school armed with posters, booklets and a lot of  useful tips and ideas for new resources.

If you’re looking to try out a new language, Mrs. Foden and Mrs. Stewart would certainly recommend a visit to the Language Show Live exhibition next year!
