Photographing International Forest Day

My camera didn't stop clicking on Tuesday starting at 9am and finishing around 4.30pm! It was International Forest Day and Skippers had a fantastic day lined up so a wonderful photo opportunity for me!
Each year group had the chance to go down to the woods and enjoy numerous activities tailored for their age group that had been set up in advance for them. There was a Spider web challenge, Blindfold sensory challenge, Chair building challenge to name but a few! The older children were split in to houses for the various challenges which required them to work either in pairs or as a whole team. It was fascinating seeing them realising that in order to complete a task they would have to work together and therefore listen to each others ideas first!
Having been taught how to be safe around a campfire by Jackie and James they all made and then cooked twisters over the fire, dipping them in to jam before devouring them.
The younger ones all enjoyed making stick pets, and building them shelters before tucking in to toasted marshmallows on chocolate digestives around the campfire.
A huge thanks to Alison O'Neill and Jackie Parker for all the preparation beforehand and for working tirelessly on the day and also to Chris and James for all their hard work and enthusiasm too.
The sun shone and the children laughed, enjoying all the wonderful outdoor space, a fantastic day was had by all.
