Phizz-Whizzing fun for a Dahl-ightful Day

Phizz-Whizzing fun for a Dahl-ightful Day

There wasn’t a grizzly old grunion to be seen as giraffes, oompa-loompas, witches and a bunch of twits arrived at Skippers Hill for Roald Dahl Day on Wednesday.

The chiddlers, led by BFGs from Y7 and Y8, took part in a variety of Dahl-inspired activities.  While Mr Gurran ran the Oompa-Loompa-Lympics, Claire transformed the Mud Kitchen into her own invention room.  As the seniors read from the story, the kiddles concocted their own versions of George’s Marvellous Medicine.

Inspired by the BFG, Jackie led a dream catcher making workshop while Michelle helped Y1 and Y2 make their own dream jars.

In class, the children had the chance to take part in quizzes, write their own recipes and draw their versions of Dahl characters before joining Mrs Holleyman and Alison to learn a Roald Dahl song.

In the afternoon, there was a treasure hunt, frobscottle making and wormy biscuit decorating - not as horrigust as it sounds!

Thank you to Wendy and Hazel for providing a decidedly un-disgusterous lunch of glumptious globgobbers and fried slobbages with wormy spaghetti, followed by a plate of soil with engine oil.  Fortunately, all the human beans managed to control their whizzpopping to avoid a truly repulsant smell.

As you can see, it was an action packed, fun-filled, whoppsy-wiffling start to the new term with the Seniors showing their leadership qualities and the younger ones enjoying being part of the Skippers family.

Thankfully, the Vermicious Knid and Hornswoggles stayed away so a gloriumptious day was had by all and we raised money for Roald Dahl’s Children’s Charity.

Well done to Skipperoos young and old who helped make Wednesday a truly wondercrump celebration.
