Newly elected House Captains

Posted: 28th September 2016 | Category: EYFS, Years 1 & 2, Years 3 & 4, Years 5 to 8

As part of our SKULL programme at Skippers we cover the teaching of British Values and this includes an understanding of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance for others.
Last week we brought these values to the fore, by holding House Captain elections.
Each Year 7 and 8 pupil who wished to be considered for the role - one girl and one boy - delivered a campaign speech to the children in their respective Houses. All children from Year 3 upwards were then given a voting slip and asked to vote, by secret ballot, for the person who had impressed them most.
The results were extremely close and all waited with anticipation for these to be announced in Tuesday's Assembly.
The whole process was great fun and all the children have now learnt the basics of how our country is governed and how that Government is chosen.
Well done all!

Elected House Captains
