Juniors make their very own soup

Posted: 12th December 2011

As part of their topic on healthy eating, and to build on their understanding of where food comes from, the Juniors were set a task of creating a delicious vegetable soup.

The first task involved the children producing their own vegetables in the school’s vegetable garden. They waited patiently for the vegetables to grow and ripen and as soon as they were ready, they all enjoyed picking the marrows, courgettes, beans and tomatoes and digging up potatoes ready to make their soup.

The vegetables were brought back to class, where the Reception children washed them and then passed them over to Year 1 & 2 pupils who, with the support of their teachers, chopped them neatly ready for the soup.

Wendy, the School Cook then prepared the soup and all of the children enjoyed it for their lunch.

The teachers were delighted with the soup and commended all of the children for their excellent team work.
