Juniors Create Animations in Computer Club

Posted: 25th January 2013 | Category: Year 1, Year 2, Years 1 & 2

The children in Years 1 and 2 have been learning some fantastic new skills in Computer Club, which takes place in the ICT rooms after school on Tuesday afternoons, run by Miss Bakewell and Sue Reis.

Pivot Stickfigure Animator
The children use Pivot Stickfigure Animator to create individual frames of action which produce an animation when viewed in sequence.

Alfie talks us through creating an animation:

BBC Dance Mat Typing
The children have also enjoyed using Dance Mat Typing, a website which uses animation and games to introduce touch typing to children and assists them with improving their touch typing skills.  As children work through the levels, they are awarded with certificates to acknowledge their achievements.

Children are encouraged to practise their typing at home and can access the Dance Mat Typing website by following the link:

Purple Mash
Purple mash is the program which is used the most used during computer club and it covers so many different ICT skills. The program provides a space for children to access online tools, curriculum-focussed APPtivities, programs and games to support and inspire learning.
