Junior School Celebrate Chinese New Year

Chopstick challenge at Skippers Hill School

Children in the Junior School have really enjoyed celebrating Chinese New Year.

There have been lots of fun activities, like the chop stick challenge, where children brought in their own chopsticks and were challenged to eat a bowl of noodles using them. Ivy from Reception won the challenge after demonstrating great finesse, dexterity and speed in her use of chopsticks. She won a lion pencil case in honour of the Chinese lion dances that take place at New Year (above).

Reception and Year 1 also enjoyed eating Chinese dumplings made by one of the Reception mothers.

Pupils have made Chinese lanterns and dragons and in Art Club children made Chinese lucky red envelopes.
