Eco Club Assembly and Competition

Posted: 20th May 2015

Skippers Eco Club has been meeting for nearly a year now, so we thought it was time to share with the school our ideas and a chance to win a prize!  Ruby and Anoushka mentioned our litter picks and signs encouraging people to switch off lights and recycle.  They explained the Eco Code, which the Club has come up with together, then handed over to our Year 7s who performed a couple of sketches, asking the audience to comment on how eco-friendly or otherwise the actors were being.

Finally, we announced a competition, which we hope lots of you will want to join in with!  Switch Off Sixty challenges you to switch off all electronic gadgets, appliances, etc, and enjoy an eco-friendly, low-tech pastime for sixty minutes.  It could be a homemade board game, building a bonfire, making a den or anything their imagination can come up with.  We would love to receive lots of photos of all your activities and the most inventive use of the sixty minutes will win a fabulous prize!
