Choristers visit Lancing college

Posted: 17th May 2017 | Category: Years 5 to 8

Last Tuesday, we were invited to take some of our singers to Lancing College to take part in a Chorister’s afternoon. After an early lunch, our eight singers were ready for the adventure.  I think it’s the first journey I have done from Skippers where there has not been an immediate request for Radio 1.  Indeed, no-one asked at all!
Unlike last year, the weather was kinder to us and we could see the imposing mock Gothic chapel as we approached from the A27.

As ever, we were given a warm welcome by the staff and the children were divided into two groups to learn the four songs they would sing at the short Evensong service.  It was fantastic to receive some very complimentary comments about the quality of singing from our Choristers.

Doughnuts and drinks consumed - Suzie claimed she had met the challenge of eating hers without licking her lips - it was off to the tuck shop.  This proves to be a popular part of the afternoon!  It also gave the children the opportunity to see the school which is set in a stunning location.  (I note there is a bench outside their Music Department - an idea for the future?)
It was lovely to see a number of parents attending - I am sure you will agree with me that it was a lovely occasion!
