Choir Day at Bede’s Senior School.

Posted: 10th March 2015

This time last year, we spent an amazing day at Bede’s, singing with their Senior Choir.  So, when we were invited back this Spring, we were delighted to accept.  Although the day was overcast like last year, the warmth of welcome more than made up for this.

We met a few former Skippers pupils on our way from the minibus and were delighted to discover that Bertie Cook – now studying for his A levels – was also singing in the choir.  Miss Morris had chosen well again and our students were soon singing confidently.  Being in a three-part choir is not something our students are used to but the quality of sound was stunning.

Bede’s catering staff obviously had heard rumours that Skippers children have healthy appetites and plied us with food at every opportunity.  Having demolished substantial quantities at lunch time, they still found space for the trays of sandwiches served at the end of the concert.

We hope to perform some of the music we learned at some stage before the end of the school year so I shall not spoil the surprise by telling you too much about the repertoire!

Our thanks go to all the staff at Bede’s for giving us such a wonderful day.  They, in turn, were impressed with the quality of singing and musicianship shown by our choir members.  I hope there will be an opportunity to visit again next year.
