Bushcraft! A brand new after school club

Posted: 2nd March 2016 | Category: Woodland Explorers, Year 1, Year 2

Skippers Hill has a brand new after school club!
Bushcraft club started this week. Twelve excited Year One & Two children set off for some outdoor fun with Lucy Clarke from Wilderness Wood. Lucy is Forest school trained and comes with many years experience of working at a montessori pre-school. She will be delivering woodland based activities which will be all about exploring, adventures and getting muddy! As an example activities may include cooking around a fire, shelter building and tool skills.
This week the children enjoyed toasting marshmallows around a fire and making hot chocolate!
Apart from having a lot of fun the club will help children develop a greater appreciation and respect for nature and develop important team building, risk taking and survival skills.
Lucy will run the club every Tuesday from 3.30pm to 5pm through to the Summer term. The club will be accompanied by Jackie Parker.
Marianna Bakewell ( Woodland Explorer co-ordinator)
