Book Week grips Skippers

Posted: 10th March 2015 | Category: EYFS, Kindergarten, Reception, Year 1, Year 2

Book Week at Skippers Hill seemed to go so quickly! We planned many events and all went really well but, before we knew it, the week was over and Years 7&8 had left for the Sports Tour in Jersey!

Our Book Character Costume Parade took place on Friday morning (view photos here) and was a wonderful finale to a great week that celebrated books and reading.  This was probably the best turnout of costumes we have had for years, which made judging of the competition very difficult, but there had to be winners and we chose one from each year group:

Inspired by Michael Rosen's book "We're going on a bear hunt", children in the Junior School decided they were going on their very own one within the school's grounds. They enlisted the help of Year 7 & 8 pupils and set off through the school grounds to find a bear – not your average Thursday afternoon! Great fun was had by all and you can watch a video of the hunt in action, below.

We have had bookmark, book token and #shelfie competitions (still open if you wish to have a go). We have been raising money for Book Aid International and will let you know the amount of our donation by the end of term. We are already planning events for next year’s Book Week so if you have any ideas, please let us know!
