A resounding victory for Undivided in the Skippers Mock Election

Posted: 13th June 2017 | Category: Year 7, Year 8

With the UK General Election dominating the news, Skippers once again took advantage of the chance to run our own Mock Election to experience the process of democracy first-hand.  Parties came up with policies from introducing Gaming into the curriculum to insisting all teachers be hippies!

There was a real buzz and debate around school from Year 8 all the way to Reception about the different benefits promised.  Monday's result was a resounding victory for Undivided, an independent party with the slogan "Unicorns not Uniforms"!  It was a great experience and, along with the whole-school excitement of voting, older pupils learnt some interesting lessons about the relative impact of positive and negative campaigns, as well as the effectiveness of different ways of communicating with a wider audience.
