Years 1 and 2

Years 1 and 2 form the nucleus of our Junior Department. The emphasis throughout Juniors is to develop skills, knowledge and understanding in a range of key subjects whilst providing each child with opportunities to develop independence, self-confidence, self-discipline and self-esteem.  A broad, balanced curriculum is planned and delivered which supports and challenges each pupil in accordance with their needs.  The Juniors benefit from the valued input of specialist teachers in the fields of Literacy, Maths, ICT, Music, French, PE and Games.

Children in the Juniors participate in many trips and events throughout the year to enrich their understanding and help instil a love of learning. Pupils also have the opportunity to take part in a variety of after school activities, ranging from Computing and French Club to Fun with Food and Gardening Club, which further extend their learning experiences and enable all the pupils to develop their unique strengths and interests.  If parents are unable to pick up their children at 4.30 p.m. the Junior teachers run a free supervised play session to coincide with Senior Prep which finishes at 5.45 p.m.
