"All the world's a stage and all the men and women merely players".

In this academic year, our mini actors and actresses have their first Major role in the Christmas Nativity (Kindergarten and Reception). Thespians in Years 1 and 2, not to be outdone, put on a great production of 'The Shiniest Star'. Years 3 and 4 clubbed together and took us back in time to the days of Robin Hood - an epic tale where good triumphs over evil. Year 5 entertained a packed hall with show and Disney songs. All members of Years 6 to 8 are invited to perform in the Summer Production of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' - the Shakespeare for Kids version.

The emphasis is on improving each pupil's self-confidence and fostering a love of 'opting in' and ' performing'. All children in Years 3 to 6 have dedicated Drama lessons with a specialist visiting teacher. In the Upper School, pupils are taught Drama through their English curriculum. Texts currently studied are Rattigan, Shakespeare and Brecht. Students are also taught Mime and are encouraged to perform in local Festivals.

Many children take extra Speech and Drama lessons and benefit from taking LAMDA gradings - a very useful preparation for Drama Scholarships or a career on the stage.
