James Parker

I joined Skippers Hill Prep School when I was just 2 ½ years old in the year 2000 and went into the Kindergarten class.  I remember being very excited to go to school and quickly made many new friends, most of whom are still my closest friends today.

I have always thought of Skippers Hill as my ‘second family’ as it was such a big part of my life where I had great friends, good teachers and the best Headmaster ever!  We had so much fun whilst learning everything we needed to know about academic work and life in general. We could work hard and play hard – especially with sport!

I am now in year 10 at Bedes, having just started my GCSE course work.  I am still working hard (and playing hard!).   It was so difficult to leave Skippers as it had been so good, but going to Bedes was easy because I knew the school well since we had been to it many times whilst at Skippers.

I am currently thinking of being a PE teacher.  One of the PE staff at Skippers said I would make a good sports teacher.   If I am successful, watch out Skippers, I may be back!

Fortunately, I can see my old school every day (I live very close) and so even though I miss it, I take every opportunity to go back in and visit whenever I can and to help out.

*James recently visited Skippers for the Years 7 & 8 Camp Out and taught the pupils songs, which they sang around the campfire.  He went to Uganda in 2011 as part of Skippers Hill’s involvement with supporting Harambee for Kenya, a charity that assists street children in Kenya.
